my branding suite
This collection of branding materials for k dub creative is a requirement for my portfolio review class. I am very close to finishing my degree!
This collection should represent my business through imagery, typography, and colors. Each piece should reinforce and communicate a cohesive theme that arches throughout my website.
logo
After receiving feedback from my instructor, peers, and friends and family, I decided to add a little more personality to my logo. The hummingbird is a symbol for accomplishing the impossible, never giving up, and being unique. Hummingbirds can be found all over the world, so they even fit in with my international branding theme.
My original logo simply had a circle behind my initials. This circle has now been changed to a cracked egg, which can represent rebirth, versatility, adaptation, and new beginnings. I stuck with my same color scheme and fonts because, well, I like them and it maintains some consistency with my established branding.
brand mark & type only
To give my branding some versatility, I wanted to have several versions ready to go. These are useful when using my logo at a very small scale, or when I want to present a very simple, modern version of my image. Showcasing the ability to create something unique, while also providing simple, scalable options was an important goal when designing these elements.
resume
A designer's resume should stand out, obviously! I chose to incorporate aspects of my logo design, including colors, typography, and my hummingbird, to reinforce and familiarize the interviewer with my skillset. Organizing a lot of information within a small space can be challenging, so I divided up the space in a way that ensure plenty of white space remains and avoids looking cluttered.
For my soft skills, I chose to use a word-cloud instead of another boring list. I felt this showed that I have the ability to come up with original ideas and think outside the box without losing functionality.
business cards
I chose a modern, square shape for my business card design. I want my card to be distinguishable from the average design, so I felt a new shape would be a great start. I also chose a double-sided design to allow a bit more room for white space and giving me a whole side of the card to get creative with. For the standard version, I kept it simple and just added my simplified sub-mark and logo design.
fun variations for back of card
After some feedback from my instructor on getting creative with my design, I decided to add some versions of my card that have different portfolio pieces instead of just my branding. This allows me to showcase a bit of my work anytime I hand these out. The informational side of the design will remain the same.
letterhead
This letterhead design is simple and modern. It will serve as stationery for official correspondence with clients or potential employers. I utilized elements of my logo to ensure it remains consistent with the other pieces in my branding package.
leave behind
A leave-behind is just that, something tangible you leave with your interviewer on your way out. It's just a little bonus piece that boosts your impression and gives the interviewer a better peek into your abilities.
front
My leave-behind is a foldable poster. The flat, open side of the poster is an infographic with a bit more information about me. Hopefully this will make an impression on the interviewer. Rather than remembering a name, resume, and skillset, now I can be viewed as a complete package, an artist who is dedicated to this industry and my art.
back
On the back side are a few samples from my portfolio. I tried to include pieces that showed my talent as an illustrator as well as a graphic designer. When flat, certain sections will be upside down. This is because when the poster is folded, these items are flipped.
when folded
In order for you to visualize this, I am included the way this poster will look the way it does when it is folded, being held in the viewer's hands.
